THE ROTARY MOVEMENT

The first Rotary meeting took place in America when Paul Harris invited two friends round to lunch on 23rd February 1905. One century later, Rotary has developed and now has some 31,000 clubs in 166 countries with members dedicated to give service to their communities and international projects throughout the world. The first club in the UK was formed in 1911, Hull followed nine years later, so our club celebrated its 80th `birthday" In the year 2000.

Rotary is an organisation pledged to give service, recognising each Rotarian's occupation as an opportunity to serve society. The organisation of this Humber Bridge Half Marathon harnesses the skills and efforts of the members of the Rotary Clubs of Hull, Barton on Humber and others in the district, plus the help of many others for which we are very grateful.
